Respite

Uniting Care Lithgow offer many opportunities for Carers of people with a disability, persons with a disability or people who are frail aged to access various respite and social support services.

The care is planned with the family to suit the needs of the persons involved and can include in home respite, social support, centre based day programs for adults and school aged children with a disability, community based programs or short term over night respite in our respite cottage.

Care options include:

 

Flexible In Home Respite

This service allows carers and people with a disability or who are frail aged to receive respite that suits their needs. This can occur in their home or as part of community access and integration.

 

Centre Based Overnight Respite

Centre based overnight respite is subject to funding and is available for people with a moderate to profound disability residing in the Central West. Limited packages are available dependant on availability, eligibility and funding. Overnight weekend respite gives the Primary carer a short break by providing care for the person normally in their care. Care takes place in our respite cottage in Lithgow by qualified staff. Respite will be planned, short term and for an agreed period of time. Individual needs are discussed with carers and clients and a comprehensive care plan developed. Unplanned overnight respite can be arranged subject to funding availability.

Social Support

This program is designed to assist those people who have a disability or are frail aged and their carers who may need assistance from our qualified staff to participate in their community. The service provided is designed to suit the needs of the recipients. Some of our services could be (but are not limited to) home visits, shopping, assistance in linking up with their friends, companionship, domestic assistance or letter writing.

 

Leisure Link (LL)

Leisure Link is a program designed to provide centre based day respite for persons with a disability who have a carer aged 18 – 65 years.  The emphasis of this program is on community based recreation and leisure activities with community integration and participation skills a priority. The service runs in Lithgow two days a week, with the exception of public holidays. A daily access fee applies for this service. Some additional expenses may be involved with some outings eg Lunch.

 

Seniors Day Program

This program enables people who are frail aged or their carers to participate in a day group activity. The program encourages social networking and community participation in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. The program runs on a Wednesday and may include luncheons and outings as agreed upon by those persons participating in the group.

 

Vacation and Centre Based Care

Respite care for school aged children with a disability including recreation and leisure activities, life skills and community access. This service is provided on some Saturdays and weekdays during school holidays.
